My Story
Beyond The Icing was established in 2016 by me, Catherine, a passionate home baker & 1950's rockabilly girl. I have been baking since I was tall enough to stand on a stool to reach the mixer.
After some life changes in 2015 I was making cakes for family & friends, all with amazing feedback so I decided to ditch the full time job in finance and start Beyond The Icing. I love the challenge that each cake brings and the reaction when a cake is delivered.
Over the years, I've had a lot of people telling me they wish they could bake and children love to bake too. From this, the idea for baking parties was born.
Being a 1950's devotee, I like to use vintage recipe's where I can and I collect old cake stands, some of which are used to display my cakes.
I like to challenge myself to try new techniques and during the Covid-19 pandemic I have spent many hours modelling and flower making.
As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, I set up the Hug In A Cake postal cakes. We all need a little bit of happiness during this dreadful time & I wanted to continue to share the joy of cake.
